Basic Function: Under direction, to supervise, direct and coordinate the various school Food Service programs on a district-wide basis; to recommend personnel assignments, train, assess and evaluate; to personally provide technical direction; to be responsible for Food Service equipment and inventory, and to do other related work as required. Candidate will plan, implement, coordinate and review Food Service programs district-wide. Candidate will also analyze Food Service operations for cost effectiveness and work with Food Service personnel and school administrators to implement improvements and necessary changes in food preparation, service, menus, facilities, and care and use of equipment. Candidate will assure adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and District requirements concerning such matters as sanitation, safety, and nutritional standards of various meal programs. Candidate must have the ability to analyze Food Service operations and prepare reports, demonstrate and teach proper food preparation and service techniques, work effectively with District personnel, vendors, students and public. Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate with additional training and/or courses in the Food Service area, and four (4) years of recent responsible supervisory experience in Food Service, preferably including some experience in a school district. Dietetic degree or culinary degree preferred. ServSafe certification required. Candidate must have the physical capacity to work effectively in a school kitchen environment, which includes standing and walking for extended periods of time, moderate lifting up to 40 pounds, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment, carrying, pushing or pulling food trays and carts, seeing to assure proper quantities of food.
