Job Title:Nutrition Assistant
Reports To:Clinical Nutrition Manager
Job Summary: Directly interact with patients to explain prescribed diets, assist with menu selection, enter/change diet orders, and meal delivery. Interact routinely with dietitians and production staff to help meet the nutritional needs of patients. Ensure patient's meal selections are free of food allergens and comply with any dietary restrictions. Work collaboratively to provide exceptional food and service to all patients, visitors, guests and employees, while meeting all regulatory requirements put forth by local, state and federal agencies.
Effectively provides Person Centered care and services
Job Responsibilities:
1* Explain patient's diets
2* Assist with menu selection
3* Diet verification via Meditech
4* Generate meal tallies for production staff
5* Daily use of Food Service Management system
6* Ensure patient/family satisfaction via direct patient interaction
7* Maintain departmental policies and procedures of clinical care in accordance with regulatory agencies
8 Effective Communication and demonstration of team-based management.
9 Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities, not noted above.
Requirements
Education - High School diploma or GED. 2-year Nutrition or healthcare related degree preferred.
Experience - 1 year of Food Service or nutrition experience, preferably in a healthcare facility
Licensure - None.
Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, pushing, pulling and reaching. May be exposed to areas of extreme heat or cold. Primary work location may include loud noises, wet and slippery conditions, exposure to sharp objects. A licensed ability to drive may be necessary.
