Full-time Food Service Kitchen Manager
Monday to Friday
7:15am to 3:45pm
Community Psychiatric Institute, a leader in Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse treatment in Essex County for over 50 years has an opening for a full-time Kitchen Manager/Cook in our adult Partial Care Program.
If you have a passion for food & enjoy working in a helping and supportive community environment this is an excellent opportunity. Work under the direction of our program director to manage our kitchen for daily breakfast and lunch preparation & Food Service in a community behavioral health social service program in accordance with the Department of Agriculture's CACFP standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and upholding standards of sanitation and safety for food prep, cleanliness and storage as required by local and State health departments.
  • Oversee and coordinate all daily food preparation and meal planning under the Department of Agriculture's CACFP guidelines.
  • Supervision of kitchen staff.
  • Responsible for cooking and serving of breakfast and lunch for approximately 150 individuals daily along with other kitchen staff.
  • Maintaining a neat appearance at all times.
  • Communicates in a friendly and professional manner with agency staff, patients of the program and other community partners.
  • Assist with shopping & pick up of food and related supplies.
  • Coordinates partnership programs with the Community Foodbank of NJ & oversees weekly in-house pantry.
  • Must hold current state-required sanitation (Safe Food Handling and/or Certified Food Manager) certification/licensure or be willing to attend required course for certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s license required in good standing for a minimum of 5 years.
Required:

  • Valid New Jersey Driver's license for at least 5 years withgood driving record.
  • Food Safety & Food Handling knowledge.
  • Patience and a supportive attitude
  • 5 years Kitchen/Cooking/Food service experience
