Job Description
Participates in the preparation and service of all hospital feeding programs, assuring quality and sanitation consistent with department standards and the daily cleaning and upkeep of the areas assigned to them including pulling and disposing trash, mopping and dust mopping floors as specified.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED or five years comparable experience
- The ability to provide cleaning and housekeeping services to designated Hospital areas. This can be obtained in 2 - 3 weeks of on-the-job training.
- Requires the ability to read, write, speak, understand and follow written or verbal instruction in English.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
Has constant personal contact with visitors, patients, hospital and department staff, volunteers, physicians and management. Interacts with individuals at all levels of the organization to fulfill the Environmental Services objective to provide a clean and save work environment. Adjusts patient interaction and/or treatment to match each patients age-specific developmental, educational, or other related needs.
JOB DUTIES (* denotes essential function)
- Demonstrates the WMH Transformation for Success eight elements, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *
- Stocks workstations with necessary items to be ready by service times. *
- Serves food to customers/patients in a timely, appealing, and friendly manner.
- Ensures portions and service methods meet department guidelines. *
- Monitors food quality at all times for appropriate temperature, freshness and customer acceptability.*
- Controls waste through minimizing leftovers, portion control and proper stock rotation. *
- Minimizes expenses by properly handling of China and Service ware.
- Utilizes a team approach in carrying out daily activities. Demonstrates and maintains a professional attitude with all customer/patient interactions and assistance.
- Attends 100% of the department /hospital in-services annually.
- Always wear hairnets and gloves where appropriate and keeps hands clean at all times. Sanitizes workstation after cleaning. Follows all Board of Health and JACHO standards. Labels and date all food items. *
- Assists in the enforcement of hospital/departmental policies and procedures*
11. Dusts furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust mops floors. Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms and bathrooms. *
12. Wet mops rooms, halls, stairways and public areas.*
13. Cleans vents, fans and other equipment using vacuum machines. *
14. Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames and high areas using a ladder as required.
15. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials including medical waste. *
16. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
17. Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specified bags or containers.*
18. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.*
19. Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathroom.*
