Grain Millers Inc. is seeking a Food Safety Specialist to join our corporate team.

The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining corporate quality and Food Safety programs that are utilized throughout the Grain Millers enterprise. The individual supports and upholds all policies and procedures including safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Completes documentation review, ongoing management, and documented risk assessments for all Grain Millers supply chains including ingredient suppliers, warehouses, co-manufacturers, packaging, and animal feed.
• Develop and maintain Grain Millers supply chain requirements such as audit templates, specifications, and supplier guidance documents.
• Assists in auditing the supply chain as part of supplier approval or as needed.
• Maintains corporate programs relative to FDA regulations including FSVP and Food Safety plans related to procurement animal feed sales.
• Act as an internal auditor for Grain Millers facilities.
• In conjunction with the Director, works with Grain Millers facilities to execute on new requirements such as customer, legal, or certification updates to ensure compliance.
• Explores and investigates corporate initiatives as directed by senior leadership.
• Creates, maintains, and supports Grain Millers plants quality, Food Safety, sanitation and pest control Axonify training content, Food Safety review sheets and huddle content.
• Works with the Director to develop and maintain KPI data facilitating continuous improvement across Grain Millers facilities and suppliers.
• Participate in corporate mock recall events.
• Promote Food Safety awareness across the company as part of ongoing Food Safety culture program activities.
• Participate in pest control/sanitation cross-plant team meetings. Collaborate with the Sanitation and Pest Control Managers sharing best practices and program harmonization.
• Assist Grain Millers teams as it relates to regulatory requirements for importing and exporting goods.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in food science, Food Safety, or related field and/or 4 years' experience in regulated food manufacturing facility is preferred.
• Background in Quality Control or Quality Assurance preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of statistics, Good Manufacturing Practices and regulations, Food Safety Standards, and regulatory standards, or the ability to learn the aforementioned.
• PCQI Certification or ability to become certified.
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and meticulous record keeping abilities.
