- Use appropriate quality and Food Safety management tools to ensure compliance with corporate and plant procedures and specifications
- Ensure adherence to applicable FDA, FSMA and state/local regulations in all processes at the Cedar Rapids facility
- Develop action plans with Production, Engineering, R&D and Division Quality Assurance to insure that product specifications, analytical procedures, sampling programs and sensory evaluations are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements
- Manages the Quality Department and provides direction to quality personnel
- Supports the development of the strategic quality and Food Safety plans for the Cedar Rapids plant
- Internal Quality Audit Systems and F22K Leader. Ensures compliance to required program elements
- Provide support to a facility that produces an approximate annualized volume of 42 million cases
- Directly lead four to six salaried supervisors within the Quality department
- Indirect supervision of 15 quality technicians within the bargaining unit
- Manage an annualized budget of $4.2 million
- Leads the following programs for the site:
- Formulas, In- Process and Finished Product Specs, Ingredient & Pkg Materials, Non-conforming Products, Document Control, Sensory, Traceability, Food Safety Management System, Quality Digitization, Analytical Methods, Allergen Management
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $81,000 - $135,600 based on a full-time schedule
- Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 10% of annual salary paid out annually

Qualifications:
- Possess strong leadership and people skills along with team building capabilities.
- Education/Work experience: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Biology or other related technical field.
- Minimum five to seven years of progressive management experience in Operations, R&D or Quality.
- Drive accountability at all levels of the organization to ensure quality and Food Safety metrics are delivered and enhancing our Food Safety Culture.
- Leadership/Independent Work: Able to provide direction and align resources appropriately; persevere in times of crisis and handle adverse circumstances effectively. Manage people through change and transformation effectively.
- Risk Assessment/Problem Solving/Decision Management: Able to evaluate various alternatives and risks and communicate recommendations based on strategic considerations using data.
- Regulations/Policies: Effectively implement/maintain FSMA/Food Safety/HACCP knowledge, FSSC 22000 standards (allergens, cross-contamination, HACCP and Food Safety Plan elements, plan development and implementation, training development and delivery, documentation, GMP’s, pesticide residues). Understands GMP requirements and Federal laws. Demonstrates understanding of quality and Food Safety systems and can translate into practical solutions for plant location.
- General Effectiveness Skills: Display the ability to communicate clearly in both oral and in written form; able to effectively problem solve; able to read conflict situations quickly and appropriately; resolves differences with others effectively and in a timely manner.
- Process Quality: Understanding, use of and demonstrated success with process quality tools including DoE, SPC, data analysis, business process and value analysis. Ability to utilize appropriate measurement systems. Able to draft plans and tactics that synchronize commercialization and manufacturing from product concept, to process optimization, to product manufacture.
