Position Summary

The Technical Services group is responsible for the development of products, engineering processes, and packaging solutions for Nestle Purina's North American business. It also provides technical support to all pet food manufacturing operations in this market. The Product Development Specialist position supports the business by providing low moisture product preservation expertise for treat and dry products manufactured by Nestle Purina Pet Care and contract-manufacturing facilities that are hired by Nestle Purina. The scope of responsibility includes all processes that directly or indirectly influences the sterility of Nestle Purina Pet Care products. Additional duties include assisting the Wet Thermal Process Authority and providing training to appropriate Nestle Purina Pet Care associates.
 

• Provide technical leadership for the development of product preservation/commercial sterility/food safety programs.
• This includes development, scale up and implementation of new and existing technologies to ensure that all dry, semi-moist and RTE products are designed to meet Food Safety Modernization Act requirements.
• Design, conduct, and document product preservation studies for existing and new dry, semi-moist and RTE products.
• Identify and approve product preservation /commercial sterility Critical Control Points and system qualifications including preparation and approval of new operating procedures for vendors, factories, contract manufacturing and R&D projects.
• Evaluate processing deviations in compliance with regulatory and Nestle requirements.
• Develop and lead product preservation training for the factories, TAG, PTC and other functional groups.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of experience in product development or dry Food Preservation system development.
