The Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank seeks a coordinator to help manage the fast-paced Food Pantry which provides food directly to clients five days per week. You will collaborate daily with the Executive Director managing the operations of the business. Part-time – 25-32 hours per week.
Duties:
· Management of the daily food distributions including organizing the pantry for distribution, determining best food choices, and amounts for each family.
· Manage storeroom workers to assure daily tasks are accomplished. Must have the ability to see what needs to be done and assign or complete the task in a timely fashion.
· Must be comfortable managing a diverse group of coworkers including older workers.
· Uphold the food bank’s mission by interacting thoughtfully and respectfully with pantry clients and volunteers.
· Collaborate with the Executive Director on daily tasks.
· Assist with intake of clients. Must be comfortable learning food-pantry specific software and interacting with clients during intake.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects at the same time.
· Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, and time management skills
· Prompt reporting of any issues within the Food Pantry operations including food, clients, volunteers, and equipment to the Executive Director.
· Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
· Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
· Food background or interest in food, awareness of food storage guidelines, interest or understanding of basic nutrition.
· Passionate about helping the food insecure and compassionate to those in need.
· Experienced managing people from diverse backgrounds and ages.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Gmail, and comfortability learning new technology as needed.
· Incredible multitasking skills.
· Extremely organized and detail oriented.
· Ability to work independently and within a team.
· Ability to work mornings and Thursdays 3pm - 6pm.
· Comfortable answering phone calls from clients, volunteers, and associates.
Qualifications:
· Three to five years’ management experience a must.
· Preferred three to five years related experience managing Food Pantry, grocery store, or other food retail outlet.
· Sensitivity to the needs of individuals and families with financial hardships and from varied cultural backgrounds.
· Valid driver’s license a plus.
· Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
· Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) speaking ability a plus.
· Demonstrated work with diverse, racial, ethnic, and social groups a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.75 - $21.37 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 33 per week
