Part Time Food and Health Educator/Cook
The role of the Food and Health Educator/Cook will be devoted mainly towards disease prevention, wellness management, and the provision of high quality, low cost healthy meals. The Food and Health Educator/Cook will focus on integrating the health, mental health and dietary needs of the clients. A large part of disease prevention and wellness management revolves around food. The person will work with the clients of CCM Housing Sites on food budgeting by teaching them how to plan for their meals on a weekly or monthly basis. The person will show clients how to create a food budget and how to adhere to the budget. The person will also prepare three meals a week for the clients.

Responsibilities
- Prepare locally sourced meals twice a week for 50 to 60 tenants
- Provide a list of healthy foods menus and food items to order in preparation of client meals
- Conduct meetings/groups on how to shop for healthy foods and information about local food markets and grocery stores; emphasizing and how to read food labels properly
- Provide cooking classes for clients, sharing ways to prepare favorite meals in a healthier manner or as an opportunity to introduce an unfamiliar food
- Prepare meals for individuals with specific goals such as weight loss and reduction of high blood pressure and blood sugar levels
- Demonstrate how eating healthfully can have an impact on feelings, mood and Health
- Serve holiday meals as needed
Job Requirements
- 2 Years minimum experience in a similar position preferred
- Knowledge of and an interest in urban farming, fresh produce and Healthy tasty foods
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation rules and regulations
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Food Handler Certification
- GED/High School Diploma
