JOB SUMMARY
Contributing, Experienced Engineer with experience in Hydraulic Fluid Power systems. Able to work independently to assist the engineering and maintenance teams with improving rig hydraulic systems and keeping them running at optimal performance levels, and play a lead role in new hydraulic systems design.
Qualifications
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as technical focal point for Fluid Power (hydraulics) related engineering projects in support of rig fleet
• Create & Modify Hydraulic schematics using AutoCAD or Other Computer Aided Drafting System.
• Check & Correct hydraulic schematics produced by designers
• Design safe, efficient, and functional hydraulic systems
• Perform hydraulic calculations as required for engineering review
• Perform detailed review of existing hydraulic systems
• Assess and equipment and machine designs, evaluating newer technologies
• Develop Requirements Documents for New Systems or Components
• Troubleshoot existing systems (including possible on-site evaluation in the field), and propose improvements for function, longevity, cost, or serviceability
• Assists with failure investigations and performs root cause analyses of hydraulic circuits
• Verify the hydraulic component selection meets the application requirements
• Provide safety review for all hydraulic applications
• Provide technical support to operations, engineering, and maintenance
• Interface with vendors and provide technical support
• Coordinates with sub-contractors and oversee their progress and quality
• Assists in audits of sub-contractors
• Participates in the evaluation of new equipment
• Review and recommend equipment for Capital and Equipment Standards committees
• Other duties maybe assigned asrequired by Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• IFPS Hydraulic Specialist Certification
• 7-10 years of direct experience with hydraulic system design and troubleshooting
• Experience with Instrumentation, Feedback, and Electronic Controls as Pertains to Fluid Power Systems
• Proficient experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
• Proficiency in safety codes, welding procedures and material
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Access and MS Project/P6
• Ability to read and explain drawings to field personnel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• IFPS Fluid Power Engineer Certification / Fluid Power System Designer Certification
• 10+ years of applicable experience with hydraulic system design and troubleshooting
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Experience with Automation
• Experience with Drilling Rigs and Drilling Equipment
• Experience with Design and Troubleshooting Pneumatic Fluid Power Systems

• Reliable self-starter able to establish priorities and organize workload on a daily basis with minimal direction.

Engineer position may require periods of extended travel to domestic or international rig locations equating to approximately 25% of time worked.
