The Floral Design Manager is responsible for managing the Floral Design staff and all floral production for events. The Floral Design Manager designs custom floral décor as needed. The Floral Design Manager functions independently and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. The Floral Design Manager reports to and receives direction from the Assistant Director of Production and may receive direction from the Sales team and the Senior Leadership Team.

Essential Duties
- Manages all production Floral Designers. Responsible for delegating work, scheduling daily workload and managing hours according to project needs and budget requirements.
- Assists the Floral Design Lead in recruiting, interviews, hires, and training of department staff.
- Assists with the conception and creation of new designs and techniques.
- May forecast upcoming trends to create looks that are forward and in keeping with the company image in the marketplace.
- Coordinates and ensures accurate preparation, creation and execution of custom Floral Designs in accordance with specifications and deadlines.
- Ensures quality of inventory being used for events and inventory returned after event usage.
- Works with other departments to coordinate production.
- Collaborates with Sales to provide ideas for items currently in stock.
- Oversees the maintenance of the department, inventory, purchasing, pricing formulas, department databases and records, and electronic filing systems.
- Manages department and project budgets and develops cost cutting strategies to achieve department and project productivity.
- Reviews pull-sheets and Ungerboeck to track the jobs currently active within the Department, project staffing requirements, and schedule staff to meet upcoming needs.
- Enforces all packing, cleaning, restocking, construction, technique, and installation procedures to ensure safe handling according to department guidelines.
- Introduces best practices to enhance department capabilities, quality, and service.
- Improves operations and streamlines work processes to provide high-quality, seamless production and design.
- Maintains department equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and used properly.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience in Floral Design (particularly in a creative or event décor industry).
- Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a team.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required, particularly in Excel. Knowledge of event planning software, including Ungerboeck preferred.
- Ability to develop, read, calculate, and interpret pull sheets, pricing information, formulas and financial reports.
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Works well under pressure with a proven ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced setting, and meet deadlines and goals.
- Outstanding interpersonal communications, customer service and conflict management skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Ability to effectively use tools and equipment that includes: floral knives and cutters, transport equipment, hand tools.
- Knowledge of event venues a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours including early, late and weekend hours.
