Floor Staff

Boxcar Bar + Arcade is looking to hire an upbeat, friendly Floor Staff member at their Durham, NC location. Floor staff members are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and positive environment for all guests while adhering to state and local alcohol service laws and regulations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in the service industry and thrives in fast paced, social environments.

Floor staff members work a variety of shifts including opening, mid, closing and private events.

ServSafe Alcohol Certification is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Floor staff members are required to have a working walkie-talkie and earpiece in at all times while clocked in and communicate efficiently and professionally with other team members.
• Floor staff members must complete on the job training and be able to address guests in a confident and polite manner while upholding Boxcar Bar + Arcade policies.
• When assigned to the door position, Floor Staff members are required to greet all guests and only allow entry if they have provided a valid form of identification.
• Floor staff members must complete on the job training to be able to identify all of the legal forms of identification according to North Carolina law; as well as specific Boxcar Bar + Arcade policies.
• Floor staff members must complete on the job training to be able to identify fake identification; be aware when guests are passing identification to another patron to attempt entry; and how to ensure that identification is not expired.
• Floor staff members are responsible for answering and assisting guests with any questions related to their general experience.
• Floor staff members must complete on the job training to be able to assist guests with general issues concerning arcade games such as token jams; and communicate larger issues to the Game Technician.
• Floor staff members are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for guests and other employees by making sure that spills and hazards are cleaned and removed in a timely manner.
• Floor staff members are responsible for ensuring a clean environment for guests by bussing any used glassware or pizza trays and sanitizing surface areas frequently between guest use.
• Floor staff members work together to complete janitorial tasks during opening and closing such as: sweeping; mopping; washing and drying bar laundry; sanitizing restrooms; sanitizing arcade games; picking up trash and debris in and around the building and patio; emptying trash and recycling; etc.
• Floor staff members are required to communicate and work with the Security team, so they are able to remove guests that are displaying signs of intoxication, aggression or unsafe behaviors.
• Attend regular Floor Staff meetings; all staff meetings; and alcohol service training courses as required by Boxcar Bar + Arcade.

Job Qualifications:

• Ability to stand and walk for 8-hour shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to maintain an impeccable attendance record.
• Ability to work weekends and shifts that correlate with the needs of the business.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
