The Operational Flight Paramedic is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under varied conditions with minimal supervision in collaboration with partner and other healthcare professionals often in an austere environment. The Operational Flight Paramedic is responsible for fulfilling the mission and goals of Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) in a Point of Injury (POI) environment, Search and Rescue (SAR) and Personnel Recovery (PR) while ensuring patient care and safety remain the highest priority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform special operations medical support providing initial combat trauma stabilization, en route, trauma care, and CASEVAC to definitive care
· Provide high-quality patient care under varied conditions with minimal supervision
· Collaborate with the flight crew, including pilots, mechanics, the Medical Director, and other healthcare professionals
· Function independent of doctors and hospital facilities
· Assess each situation to determine the best course of action to support, monitor, and treat patients in critical care situations
· Ensure quality of care by providing a safe, clean, and well stocked aircraft environment, maintains regular equipment and base checks, and complies with safety standards and briefings
· Maintain required certifications and ongoing training required for the position
· Conduct oneself in accordance with Company’s Core Values
· Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· 4 years of recent critical care experience prior to hire (within the last 6 years)
· Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
· Trauma – ATLS audit, BTLS/PHTLS or equivalent
· State license appropriate to assigned location, National Registry Paramedic (NRP) and Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C) within 2 years of hire
· Recent flight experience preferred
· United States Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for obtaining U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Candidates with a current active Secret clearance, or who have recently had active clearance, take priority. Candidates selected for this position will receive an offer of employment which is conditional upon satisfying all per-employment requirements, including obtaining United States Secret Clearance. Columbia will orchestrate and pay for securing the clearance, a process that can take up to six months.
