LifeMed Alaska is the state's premier provider of Ground and Air Medical transportation, and we're looking for nurses with current critical care experience to join our Flight team. We are currently recruiting candidates for our Spring 2023 didactic.
With a workforce of over 100 in communities from Alaska's YK Delta to Alaska's Interior, we give the best air medical crews in the state - if not the country - the opportunity to support critical care patients during transports from rural Alaska to tertiary care centers across the state, major cities in the Lower 48, and internationally.
Full-time LifeMed Alaska employees are eligible for a competitive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental for the employee and eligible dependents, a generous match with participation in our 401k plan, paid time off after 90 days of employment, life, disability and other accident insurance options for the employee and eligible dependents, an employee assistance program, tax-free savings plans for medical and childcare expenses, and relocation assistance for qualified applicants. Additionally, LifeMed Alaska provides 140 hours of paid continuing education per year, supports work/life balance by providing a flexible schedule, and is a smoke-free workplace. Our Culture is one of Excellence in all that we do, and we strive to listen for understanding, have fun in our work, and give every member of the team a clear picture of how their strengths contribute to the success of the organization.
Position Description:
LifeMed Alaska's Flight Nurses are responsible for assisting in planning, providing, evaluating and documenting direct patient care including those patients with complex and involved care needs outside the hospital setting. Flight Nurses provide care in fixed wing aircraft, ground ambulance, and hospital settings. They must always maintain a safe, therapeutic and organized environment and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age served and to provide the care needed. A day in the life...
Our Flight Nurses are partnered with talented Flight Paramedics caring for patients with a full range of critical care conditions. Transport may take the crew to remote villages, larger cities and hospitals within Alaska, or facilities in the Lower 48. Our patients count on our flight crews to be a calming presence in situations that are new and can be frightening for them and their loved ones, in addition to providing the high-quality healthcare we are known for.
Our flight crews have the opportunity to contribute to achieving overall company objectives by participating in committees, sharing ideas to improve quality of care and increase efficiency, and working shifts at our other Alaska bases. We recently earned a renewal of our CAMTS certification, and Flight Nurses have the opportunity to influence processes, internal communication systems, and other aspects of the business as we set the stage for the continued success of LifeMed Alaska.
