Flat Roofer Job Description:
Flat Roofers specialize in installing, repairing, and maintaining flat roofs using a variety of materials. Responsibilities encompass ensuring watertight conditions, conducting inspections, and addressing weather damage. Expertise in safety protocols is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Inspecting roofs for damage and determining the best course of action for repair or replacement
- Measuring roofs to determine materials needed for repairs or replacement
- Installing and repairing various types of flat roofing materials, including EPDM, TPO, PVC, and modified bitumen
- Ensuring all safety protocols are followed on job sites, including the use of harnesses and other personal protective equipment
- Communicating with clients to provide updates on the progress of jobs and to answer any questions or concerns they may have
- Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and are ready to use when needed
- Working with other tradespeople, such as carpenters and electricians, to complete jobs that require multiple areas of expertise
- Keeping accurate records of time and materials used for each job to ensure accurate billing and cost estimates
Requirements:
- Physical fitness and strength to climb ladders and work on roofs for extended periods of time
- Experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of flat roofing systems, including knowledge of roofing materials and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications related to roofing projects
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to roofing work, including the use of personal protective equipment and fall protection equipment
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members, clients, and contractors
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at heights
