Job purpose:
In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the Fixed Assets Bookkeeper is to perform accounting duties related to the activity funds of the schools and to maintain adequate subsidiary records documenting the existence, completeness and valuation of Fixed Assets. Duties and responsibilities:
Maintain fixed asset inventory listing
Enter all purchases and disposals of Fixed Assets into the computer
Reconcile purchases of Fixed Assets in general ledger to fixed asset inventory listing
Produce fixed asset reports as requested by various departments
Direct inventory counts at each building and department location
Reconcile inventory counts listing to fixed asset inventory listing
Prepare documentation of deleted Fixed Assets for Board
Organize test counts of inventory
Issue fixed asset tags to schools
Prepare monthly Fixed Assets schedule
Monitor school activity funds
Review expenditure documentation of activity funds for legal compliance and proper account classification
Reconcile bank statements for the school activity funds
Print trial balance and make copies of the bank statements
Keep one copy of trial balance for district's records
Send a copy of trial balance along with the bank statements to all schools
Print a revenue budget report and an expenditure budget report for district's records
Prepare a claims docket and a statement of cash balances of the activity funds for the Board
File all activity fund reports in respective folders
Lead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees
Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and to maintain any credits and/or continued education for maintenance of licensure/qualifications required for the position
Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
Maintain confidentiality
Regular, dependable, in person, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position
Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
