Job Description
Scope:
The Fitness Supervisor is responsible for managing in the daily operation of the Fitness Center, Gym, and Pools, with an emphasis on the main gym, group class programming, and member/employee wellness campaigns including marketing that accompanies these events. This highly visible position requires strong verbal and written communication skills along with an upbeat and energetic attitude.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Directs activities for the Fitness Trainers, Group Classes, and pools, including developing schedules, ensuring that activities are adequately staffed.
- Process Independent Contractor payments bi-weekly.
- Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll timely and accurately, and all paperwork associate with timekeeping and recordkeeping for all Fitness Employees.
- Responsible to monitor and enforce service standards and procedures of the Fitness Center activities.
- Monitor gym activity, check equipment and schedule routine maintenance and oversee repairs. Report any communication items to Fitness Director.
- Programming for all group classes including schedule creation, staffing, sub lists, new classes, health and wellness workshops.
- Recruiting of all personal trainers and group fitness instructors
- Ensuring that all personal trainers and group fitness instructors are current with certifications and continuing education.
- Serve as point of contact with accounting for all personal training vouchers and packages.
- Manage and direct Fitness and pool employees including staff schedules, floor coverage, programming needs and events.
- Oversee daily operations at the main gym and training gym for safe, healthy, and challenging environment.
- Communicate all problems, member and staff feedback, functional maintenance issues and safety requirements with appropriate departments and Director.
- Develop and record monthly usage reports for all activities related to gym usage and group classes.
- Oversee completion of opening and closing activities for the Gym, movement studios, activity center, pools, and spin room.
- Effectively manage communications and e-mail communications.
- Ensures compliance with the Fitness Center standards including all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Assist and train new employees and independent contractors.
- Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Fitness, Wellness and Spa.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Fitness, Wellness and Spa.
- Require to work more than 40 hours per week.
Relationships:
Internal: Fitness Staff, independent contractors, maintenance staff, and other Club departments.
For effective communication.
External: Members/Guests: To provide excellent service.Vendors: To order, schedule work, and receive goods.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 2-years experience in the health and fitness field required
- Minimum of 1-year personal training.
- Familiar with sports movements related to gym exercises, tennis, golf, swimming, etc.
- Minimum of Associate’s Degree required
- Bachelor’s Degree in PE, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology is considered a plus.
Certification and/or License Requirement:
- NASM, ACSM, ACE, or other professionally recognized certification required.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required or able to obtain within 30 days from hire date.
- Certified Pool Operator/Lifeguard Certification considered a plus.
