A little bit about the projects:


Vineyard Offshore brings industry-leading experience to the emerging US-based offshore wind market. Owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, half of the joint venture behind the Vineyard Wind 1 project, Vineyard Offshore is focused on developing projects that will deliver clean, renewable, and cost-effective offshore wind power around North America. In addition to Vineyard Wind 1, Vineyard Offshore currently owns three additional US lease areas that together can generate at least 3.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy to power a minimum of two million homes along the Northeastern, Mid-Atlantic and Northern California coasts.


A little bit about the department:


The Fisheries Liaison will serve as an outward-facing representative to the fishing community and will primarily be responsible for developing and delivering our New York/New Jersey Mid-Atlantic fisheries program. This program includes a range of components, such as outreach, communication strategy engagement, project planning, fisheries science, and workforce development. This position may routinely require travel as well as non-traditional hours.

What you’ll do:


  • Lead fisheries engagement activities in the New York/New Jersey Mid-Atlantic region to ensure effective communication and good working relations across all relevant fishermen, fishing communities, organizations, sectors, regions/ports, and gear types
  • Grow, manage, and maintain a network of Fisheries Representatives, Offshore/ Fisheries Liaisons, and fishing scout vessels
  • Coordinate fisheries survey, research, monitoring, initiatives, and other activities with the Fisheries Manager and across internal teams
  • Revising fisheries communication plans and protocols based on lessons learned and fishermen’s feedback
  • Identify potentially affected fisheries and work with these stakeholders to better understand their concerns, identify potential impacts, and arrive at workable solutions
  • Identify opportunities to integrate interested fishermen into offshore project, development and initiatives that are responsive to fishermen’s concerns, and support the continued health and vitality of the region’s fisheries
  • Readily available and accessible to fishermen via phone, email, social media, and in-person during and outside of regular business hours, and ensure follow-through on fishermen’s concerns
  • Participate in outreach events focused on fishing communities, assist in the creation of Notices to Mariners and outreach materials targeting fishing communities, and contribute to social media posts as well as website design and upkeep
  • Track and report on fisheries engagement activities and fishermen concerns


What you’ll bring:


  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, clean energy development/advocacy, engineering, construction management, labor relations, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 experience in labor, community engagement/organizing and/or workforce development
  • Experience working directly with New York and/or New Jersey fishermen in the field, with a functioning knowledge of commercial and recreational fishermen, fisheries issues, and ports on Long Island and New Jersey strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
  • Experience engaging with contractors, trade union management, workforce development agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Familiarity with implementation of DEIJ programs
  • Ability to foresee problems and complexities and propose solutions, especially regarding the interface of contractors' typical practices with local workforce requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office365, including Excel data analysis skills and PowerPoint presentation experience
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
