The First Officer is responsible to the Captain/PIC of the flight for the conduct and execution of assigned duties. The First Officer reports to the Chief Pilot. This position is located out of our Corporate location in Birmingham, AL.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Assisting the Captain/PIC with discharging safety responsibilities
  • Comply with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
  • Ensure preflight inspections are performed.
  • Study weather conditions, applicable NOTAMs where available, enroute, alternate airports and departure points and determine fuel oil and oxygen requirements.
  • Use Checklists and operate aircraft per SOPs and aircraft limitations.
  • Ensure aircraft is airworthy, registered and required documentation is on-board.
  • Complete post flight duties, including notify R&M of deviations to itinerary or overnight location.
  • Prepare flight plans and ensure all flight planning requirements have been met as instructed by the Captain/PIC
  • Ensure aircraft is clean & prepared with all provisions onboard for passenger safety & comfort.
  • Review and calculate aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts as instructed by the Captain/PIC.
  • Record flight times and aircraft defects. Complete all required aircraft forms, logs, records and reports.
  • Act as second in command (SIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled.
  • Assists the Captain/PIC with decisions necessary to start, delay or cancel flights and deviate flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Oversee refueling and servicing of the aircraft as instructed by the Captain/PIC
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of baggage and perform other services as required to expedite the handling of passengers.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Preferably, a Bachelor’s Degree. Education can be substituted with experience or another related degree/license.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Airplane Multi-Engine Land/Instrument Airplane required - Airline Transport Pilot license with multi-engine rating & type rated in appropriate aircraft in which you act as SIC preferred.
  • First Class FAA medical certificate.
  • Ability to read, analyze & interpret regulatory documents, equipment manuals, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & operations/procedures manuals.
  • 1500 Total time
  • 250 Multi-Engine
  • 250 Jet/Turboprop as crew preferred
  • 500 PIC (fixed wing)
  • Valid passport
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit
