Our proximity to the Fox River affords our residents with numerous recreational opportunities such as the Historic Grignon Mansion, the 1000 Islands Environmental Center, sports fields, a public swimming pool, and a public library.
City-sponsored events held in the Central Business District include a weekly outdoor music series - Live! from Hydro Park, Fox Firecracker 5k Run/Walk, and the Downtown Farmer's Market June through October. With such a variety of activities available, it should not come as a surprise that Kaukauna is also known as 'The Friendly City.'

Firefighter / Paramedic
Description
This is a General Application Pool for Firefighter/Paramedic positions with the City of Kaukauna. We continuously accept and review applications.
Firefighter/Paramedics will perform individually or as a member of a firefighting/paramedic team and will participate in fire suppression activities including firefighting, rescue, ventilation, forcible entry, salvage, overhaul and inspection practices. This position also requires high quality and efficient pre-hospital emergency care of ill and injured patients. This position will function and respond to special operation requests as directed. Firefighter/Paramedics will attend training sessions on a regular basis in order to continuously update their knowledge and skills required for effective work performance. Decisions are made with guidance of a supervisor and on an individual level and have a direct effect on life and property.

Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification and licensure by the State of Wisconsin as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (If currently enrolled in a program must have license before start date)
- Completion of Firefighter I or equivalent (IFSAC or Pro Board) required.
- Associate degree in Fire Protection preferred.
- Current CPR & ACLS Card required.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
- Knowledge in firefighting techniques and emergency rescue procedures.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to adapt to varied emergency situations.
