Fire fighter/Fire Inspector
POSITION SUMMARY
Position requires individual to be competent in all function of a Firefighter/HSES including being able to inspect, maintain and operate all fire prevention equipment in Rochester locations, provide permits for various hot work and confined space entries as well as respond to and mitigate emergencies including fires, chemical spills, medicals emergencies and other urgent matters.
Individual needs to be competent in the use and operation of large fire apparatus and all associated equipment and be competent in the operation and use of sprinkler and suppression systems, fire alarm and other notification systems and all manner of protection and prevention equipment.
Individuals routinely interface with various employees, tenants, municipal responders, and government representatives. As a Health Safety and Environmental Specialist (HSES) individual must be able deal with chemical spill control, mitigation and reporting to governmental agencies, neighborhood complaints, safety questions and other questions related to 24/7 operation of Kodak facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete inspections of buildings, fire protection and prevention equipment with involvement in all areas of fire protection and prevention. Operate various equipment for shutdowns related to maintenance or construction. Maintain records of all inspections and impairments for insurance company and governmental authorities.
- As an HSES, individual is required to be Subject Matter expert in the control, clean-up, and governmental reporting of chemical spills at Kodak sites as well as be able to answer questions regarding safety, neighborhood complaints and be knowledgeable in all production operations.
- Issue permits required by insurance company and government agencies for safe hot work (welding, cutting, soldering, etc.) for both Kodak operations and tenants at EBP. Assure all operations and equipment at Kodak facilities promote a fire safe atmosphere.
- Inspect confined space atmospheres and issue permits for confined space entry and operation (OSHA requirement).
- Training of employees and tenants in fire extinguisher use, fire watch procedures, emergency evacuation, etc.
- Provide 24/7 on call assistance for all emergencies and other incidents related to the operation of Kodak facilities as well as provide EMS and crowd control coverage at large Kodak Theatre events.
- Emergency response to fires, chemical spills, entrapments, medical emergencies, water main breaks, etc. Assist in coordinating efforts of municipal first responders during emergencies as well as providing.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
NYS 229 professional Firefighter Certification or similar training level.
NYS 229 Emergency Medical Technician Certification or similar training level.
NYS Haz-Mat Technician training
Fire Protection Technology associate in applied science
