General Summary:

The main goal of a Firearms Trader is to provide our customers with prompt, thorough and friendly service. In addition to assisting customers, merchandising, and maintaining the appearance of the department Firearms Traders are responsible for evaluating the condition and assessing a retail price of any given firearm, firearm accessory or other merchandise approved for acquisition. This process can be accomplished by using the Kittery Trading Post’s archival systems, firearm Blue Books and/or the experience(s) of fellow trader’s and management.

Qualified candidates must be available to work 9am-7pm Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays or a combination of 9am-5pm/11am-7pm shifts Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays if seeking full-time employment. Candidates seeking part-time employment must be able to work at least Sundays as well as one additional shift.

Applications Requirements & Essential Functions:

• Firearms Traders must possess a good personable demeanor and ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals and personalities in a professional approachable manner
• Must have the ability and desire to multitask (situations in which trades result in sales are common and must be performed simultaneously and with accuracy)
• Must possess the ability and desire to work in a high stress, high pace environment, when business demands it, and still uphold a positive attitude and demeanor
• Firearms Trader must possess a good working knowledge of firearm values and current market trends
• Must possess a good working knowledge of reloading and black powder equipment and supplies as well as optics, knives, and firearm accessories
• Must have the ability and willingness to move to other areas of the department when needs of a sales clerk exceeds the needs of a Firearm Trader
• Must possess good phone skills and provide a consistent level of follow up

• Charge Account ($300) is available after ninety days of active employment
• Profit Sharing is available after a full calendar year of active employment to those twenty one years of age or older and have worked at least 1,000 hours
• Funeral Leave is available after thirty days of active employment
• Educational Reimbursement up to $1,000+ per calendar year is available after ninety days of active employment
• Discretionary Annual Performance Bonus
