Job Description
- Obtain and maintain Fire Responder Qualifications by completing the initial training program, physical ability testing, fire drills, live fire training, and quarterly classroom training.
- Complete Hazardous Material Technician and Confined Space Rescue Training.
- Respond to Fire, Medical, Hazardous Material, and Confined Space Incidents as directed by the Fire Protection Shift Supervisor.
- Perform Fire Prevention Walkdowns that includes the stations Control of Combustible Materials and Hot Work Programs to ensure compliance with the Fire Protection Program Licensing Basis and procedures.
- Perform Fire Watch Activities for impaired Fire Protection Systems, Structures and components.
- Complete on the Job Training (OJT) and Task Performance Evaluations (TPE) to work towards obtaining the necessary qualifications to become a Fire Technician.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, State of Michigan Firefighter 1 and 2 and State of Michigan Medical License.
Experience:
- One (1) year previous Firefighting Experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- State of Michigan Firefighter 1 and 2.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain Annual Fire Responder Qualifications which includes but not limited to annual fire drills, live fire training, quarterly classroom training and annual physical ability testing.
- Computer Skills proficiency.
- State of Michigan Medical license (MFR, EMT-B, or Paramedic) preferred.
