Job description

You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Consolidated Hampton Roads Navy Regional Fire and Emergency Services Department of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.Qualifications: For The GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing all aspects of assigned shift to include providing planning, oversight, recommendations and monitoring of subordinate staff; 2) Perform the planning and submission of a training budget to include ensuring complete records of the budget are maintained; 3)Serving as Senior Fire Officer at actual firefighting and rescue operations; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents, operating fire communications equipment, performing rescue operations, and controlling or extinguishing fires; and 5) Managing a program ensuring employees are trained in areas of structural firefighting, shipboard firefighting, aircraft rescue firefighting, emergency medical services, fire inspection techniques, hazardous materials, confined space rescue procedures, apparatus driving and operation, and equipment operation. For Outside applicants claiming VEOA and VRA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service)
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 GS-10grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting a wide range of fire safety & occupational health concepts, principles, & practices, laws & regulations applicable of the performance of complex administrative responsibilities which require planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluation of a fire safety and health program; 2) Managing all aspects of assigned fire stations by providing planning, oversight, recommendations, and monitoring of subordinate staff; 3) Providing input into the development of budget and ensuring reports and records are maintained as appropriate for area of responsibility; and 4) Serving as Senior Fire Officer at actual firefighting and rescue operations. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and Airport Firefighter. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
