We are seeking a talented Fire Investigator to join our Corporate Investigative Services team!
As a Fire Investigator, you will play a crucial role in determining the origin and cause of fires. You will work closely with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to conduct thorough investigations.
How You'll Make an Impact at Rehmann:
  • Travel to various sites to conduct high complexity in-depth fire and explosion investigations
  • Determine origin and cause of fires related to buildings, vehicles, and equipment
  • Collect and analyze evidence, including conducting in depth interviews for witness statements, photography, fire patterns, and other relevant data preservation
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and insurance companies to gather information and build comprehensive case reports.
  • Document findings in clear and concise reports
  • Testify and present findings in civil and criminal court settings and depositions when necessary.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to fire investigations.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings, when required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement strategies for fire prevention.

Your Desired Skills, Values & Experiences:
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience with current industry standards and procedures in origin and cause investigation
  • IAAI-CFI or CREI certification preferred
  • Knowledge of criminal justice processes, court pleadings and record retention systems to effectively identify and collect required information.
  • Knowledge and use of NFPA 921 and 1033
  • Ability to provide expert testimony or deposition experience
  • Understanding of investigative techniques to be used in a variety of situations
  • Experience writing detailed reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe
  • Ability to travel away from the office to conduct field research when needed
  • Demonstrates professional image, maturity, self-confidence, positive attitude and ethical behavior
  • Encourages new perspective and innovative ideas allowing us to continuously improve
