Physical Requirements:Lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs – frequent walking with some climbing of stairs, sitting for minimal periods of time, set-up of dorm unit including some drywall, furniture. Some use of tools including drills, saw, and everyday tools.
Shift:Monday-Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Job Summary:Responsibilities include assisting the Assistant Fire Marshal in performing inspections for existing and new facilities to identify fire/life safety deficiencies in Greek housing, residence halls, and university-owned buildings (off campus and on campus); conducting inspections/reviews for university construction projects to ensure adherence to project scope and Kentucky Building Code, UK Standards, ADA, and life safety standards; conducting reviews (building audits, places of assembly and classroom evaluations) in identifying fire/life safety deficiencies; and compiles reports with recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:Ability to read, interpret building plans, KY IBC codes and NFPA standards enforcement

Preferred Education/Experience:Kentucky Level II Certified Building Inspector,public education/instruction experience in a classroom setting in fire extinguisher use, fire and life safety preferred.
