Job Description Qualifications:
The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Technician to join the team in Puyallup, WA.
The Extinguisher Shop Technician will remain proficient in all established nationally recognized firefighting standards and methods, while maintaining knowledge concerning the proper handling, inspection and testing of Department of Transportation (DOT) cylinders. The selected candidates responsibilities are needed to join the team's activities in Puyallup, WA and Frederickson, WA.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Recovering of halogenated or dry chemical extinguishing agents, as appropriate to the site assignment
  • Testing hydrostatic or proof pressure of DOT cylinders
  • Disassembling of DOT cylinders
  • Re-assembling of DOT pressure cylinders
  • Filling and pressurization of DOT cylinders
  • Demonstrating proficiency of testing DOT cylinders
  • Ordering of parts and supplies for extinguisher repairs and recommend the purchase of tools needed in the shop
  • Shipping and receiving of DOT cylinders
  • Identifying DOT cylinders and extinguishing agent for surplus or disposal
  • Conducting preventative maintenance of extinguishing agent recovery and cylinder testing equipment
  • Ensuring gauges and equipment are calibrated in accordance with recognized standards and requirements
  • Maintaining the inventory and recommend the purchase of tools needed in the shop
  • Completing all required documentation in accordance with nationally recognized standards
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in the Extinguisher Maintenance shop

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Current valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Washington State driver's license within 6 months of employment
  • State, IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter 1 certification
  • Current National Registry or Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • 2 years as a paid fulltime Firefighter or any combination of 3 years' experience as a full-time, part time or volunteer Firefighter within the last 5 years
  • Ability to pass and maintain a Firefighter physical/stress test
  • Ability to become a Hazardous Materials Technician within 1 year of hire date
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift
  • Willing to travel domestically as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • State, IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter 2 Certification
  • Experience with Aircraft Rescue Firefighting
  • Experience working with hazardous materials
  • Experience with building and fire codes, modern fire prevention principles, procedures and equipment
