CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Fire Alarm Designerto join our Fire Protection Team at our office in Birmingham, AL or Cullman, AL.  

CHA Fire Protection Services offers highly specialized fire protection engineering services and cutting-edge solutions to the most challenging fire protection projects. Our knowledgeable staff manages complex industrial, commercial and design/build fire protection projects, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, ground storage tanks, underground piping, and special hazards. CHA Fire Protection Services has a large presence in the design/build fire protection market, striving to provide customers with the most cost-effective and code-compliant fire protection systems possible. Our international division has provided fire protection services in more than 80 countries giving our team the knowledge and skills required to handle the unique challenges involved with overseas construction.

The Fire Alarm Designer assists with the research, preparation, and creation of various types of contract or construction drawings and documents. The position in this role will collaborate with design teams on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company expectations. 

The Fire Alarm Designer will develop the ability to independently establish simple or routine contract drawings and will gain a working knowledge of discipline standards, codes, and systems through assisting with contract document preparation. The right candidate for this role will be eager to learn and problem-solve and should have working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD or REVIT.

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred 
• No experience required  
• Valid drivers’ license required 
• Proficient with discipline-based software (AutoCAD, REVIT, etc.) 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences  
• Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist senior staff 
• Some occasional travel (5-10%) may be required
