As a Finishing Technician, you will play a crucial role in our operations by overseeing all aspects of grinding, polishing, and prepping items for painting. Additionally, you will be responsible for executing painting and powder coating operations with precision and attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine materials requiring grinding and select appropriate grinding tools and grit disks.
- Prepare parts with filler material to ensure a smooth finish and grind pieces to achieve desired surface quality.
- Clean parts thoroughly to optimize paint adhesion.
- Analyze order specifications to determine proper paint color and mix special paints as needed.
- Operate wet spray equipment, siphon feed pressure pot, and diaphragm pump effectively.
- Apply standard product finishes ensuring complete coverage.
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished work and rectify any defects before proceeding to the next stage.
- Maintain and repair spray equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Perform both wet spray paint and powder coat painting applications proficiently.
- Inspect workpieces for defects and select appropriate abrasive belts or wheels for grinding.
- Utilize grinders to remove scratches, excess weld material, and burs from workpieces.
- Polish weld seams to a seamless finish and round corner weld seams.
- Finish stainless steel oven/chamber parts to specified standards using finish grinder.
- Transfer stainless steel chambers between welding and finishing areas efficiently.
- Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in related field preferred.
- Proven experience in grinding, polishing, and painting operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in operating various grinding and painting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
Pay: $18-$20/hr depending on experience. Plus $1.00 shift differential for 2nd shift
