Job Description
It is the Financial Services Coordinator’s primary responsibility to provide great customer service by working with each client to ensure their account is financially secured. This employee is responsible for verifying insurance and assuring all paperwork is completed with accurate data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify new client’s insurance, complete prior authorization as needed. Monitor authorizations each month to ensure no lapse in coverage.
- Communicate with client if there is a concern regarding insurance coverage, letting them know about co pays, deductibles and financial assistance policy as applicable.
- Communicate with billing team on all client needs.
- Attend billing meetings.
- Work with the collection agency as needed.
- Ensure that clients insurance information is accurately entered and maintained in Carelogic. Obtain copy of front and back of insurance card (current insurance, guarantor, co-pay, deductible, authorizations, units, etc.).
- Complete monthly insurance verification and authorizations (between 3rd and 5th each month). Update the EMR system with correct insurance data.
- Facilitate accepting payments when clients come in to pay bills. Make weekly deposit to bank.
- Understand all financial assistance and grant services available to clients.
- If a client requests financial assistance, assist client by gathering the necessary financial assistance documentation for consideration of the sliding fee, underinsurance, uninsured or grant options. After Billing Supervisor approves or denies eligibility, contact the client to inform them verbally, as well as follow up with a letter. Remind client when payment waiver will be expiring or if new documents are needed.
- Help clients with obtaining insurance (Insurance navigator – grant possibility).
- Facilitate client in arranging a payment plan with Billing Supervisor.
- Assist grant coordinator with data collection/info on grants?
- Support coverage at the front desk as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- One-year billing or health insurance experience
- Must be 21 years old and have a valid Minnesota Drivers License.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
