Financial Analyst Summer Internship

As a Gas South Intern, you would play a critical role in making business decisions, get to work closely with company leadership, and make a direct impact to organizational goals from day one.
In addition, all Interns participate in a structured Gas South Intern Program which provides ongoing development training, teambuilding activities and assessments to support your professional growth at Gas South and beyond.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
NOTE: The following are major responsibilities of this position. They are not intended to cover each aspect of the position as the scope and duties may change or be temporarily altered based on the current business needs of the Company. The basic requirement of every position is to perform all tasks as assigned by the reporting authority.

• Building and validating models from large datasets using tools such as SQL, Excel, and Power BI.
• Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports.
• Develop financial models and analyses to support business decisions and strategy.
• Perform credit risk analysis of potential customers.
• Assist with month-end accounting closing processes and variance analysis.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Sophomore Year completed - rising Junior or Senior, majoring in Business/Management, Math, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or Engineering bachelor's degree.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, including complex integrated financial models and business cases.
• Basic knowledge of basic accounting debits and credits, and accounting financial statements.
• Understanding of data analysis, model building, and model validation
• Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with statistical or analytics software (SQL, R, Stata, SPSS, etc.)
• Advanced Data Analysis skills (Regressions, Monte Carlo Simulations, etc.)
• Internship or prior relevant work experience
• Excellent academic record

• Provide completion of special projects and filling any gaps during peak workloads.
• Perform fundamental tasks freeing permanent employees to do higher priority work.
