Essential Functions

- Serve as an entry-level field or rod person on a survey field crew.
- Set up back-sight and foresight targets and total station instrument.
- Set and mark stakes for construction.
- Support field efforts with land surveying by applying the principles and theories of math, science & engineering.
- Drive company vehicle to and from job sites.
- Keep survey vehicle stocked, clean, and organized.
- Operate print machine and copier to assemble plans and documents for projects when necessary.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Duties are largely performed in a field setting.
- Field settings may include work outdoors and on construction sites during all weather conditions.
- May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
- Position requires travel (up to 100%); valid driver?s license and acceptable DMV record required.
Physical requirements
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, use hands, reach, talk and hear.
- Position requires long hours and physical ability to hike through a variety of terrains while carrying equipment of approximately 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The ability to complete survey assignments from written and oral instructions.
- The ability to apply math concepts.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- Basic computer/internet skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma required.
- Applicable college courses and/or associates degree in surveying, engineering, GIS or mapping is a plus.
- 0 ? 2 years? experience in Field Surveys.
- Prior experience with pipeline survey and mapping terminology and the use of coordinate-based information strongly preferred.
