Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: January 2024
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary responsibilities include observing/supervising/evaluating between 25 and 30 Master of Arts in Teaching residents and undergraduate student teachers per semester.
- Required to maintain an office full time at their home in the Chicago Area and drive to observations up to 3 hours away.
- Must be available beyond the workday to assist with MAT residents/student teachers/cooperating teachers issues related to the residency and student teaching experiences.
- ProvideS support to the residents and student teachers before, during, and after the experience. This includes grading assignments and providing feedback in a timely manner.
- Beginning and ending experience dates vary based on PK-12 starting and ending dates.
- Various on-campus meetings and activities will be required on the Quad Cities and Macomb campuses.
- Securing student teaching placement sites in identified public school districts within the Chicago area is vital.
- Collecting contracts and other paperwork from the cooperating teachers and building administrators is necessary.
- Building/maintaining collaborative partnerships with PK-12 schools will be an ongoing responsibility for this position.
- This position serves as a conduit to facilitate recruitment efforts for COEHS when working with the public schools.
- While the primary focus for this position is on supervision of WIU students in the PK-12 schools, this person will also assist with other duties that the Office of Teacher Education is responsible for. For example, these duties involve collecting and entering data for all education students at WIU, hosting an Education Career Fair, planning and facilitating trainings for all education students and their cooperating teachers, developing social media content, producing a newsletter, etc
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 or more years teaching experience in a public school
- Master's degree in an educational topic
- Experience with Danielson evaluations
- Proficient with technology tools: scanning, Google Suite, spreadsheets, Zoom
- Demonstrate strong communication skills
- Experience tracking data for multiple students (e.g., grades, due dates, etc.)
- Valid Driver's License
- Illinois State Police/FBI fingerprint background check will be required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Administrative experience
- State trained Danielson evaluator
- Be team oriented and student centered
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of appointment.

THE OFFICE OF TEACHER EDUCATION: The successful candidate will join the Office of Teacher Education at Western Illinois University. The WIU Office of Teacher Education, housed in Horrabin Hall, serves students in the 28 undergraduate and graduate educator licensure programs offered at the University.
