Functional Responsibilities:
Technician coordinates operation and maintenance for computers and peripherals installed throughout USSTRATCOM complex to include local area support facilities. Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and support of PC/Workstation computer equipment and associated peripherals to include mice, keyboards, KVMs, Multi Function Devices (MFD), and Plotters.
Perform on-site diagnosis, troubleshooting, upgrades, and repairs of IT equipment. Technician supports Systems Engineering plans for future IT hardware installations. Assess and schedule resources for total life-cycle support of systems, assessing installation plans, supporting and validating installation, testing and acceptance, modification/upgrade, decommission, while maintaining accountability for assigned system assets within the inventory.
Responsible for the allocation of assets, ensuring that performance meets technical, cost, quality, and schedule requirements in support of system operation. Also involved in sparing, provisioning, diagnosis, repair, installation, and upgrading. Consulted to help Engineering team determine hardware compatibility and influences hardware design and/or configuration.
Desired Job Functions
Deploy and replace Trusted Thin Clients (TTC) on the Consolidated Desktop Infrastructure (CDI) and perform procedures for imaging which includes coordinating with the CYOC, Infoblox, Forescout and DIA. Ensure bios settings are correct and customer can login successfully.
Management of the IT Accountable Property Officer (IT-APO) Field Services account to include updating Remedy with new or removed computer equipment that is deployed or replaced and transferring equipment to the appropriate IT-APO account. Ensure that all transfers and updates are related to the appropriate Incident or Change Request (CRQ)
Perform IT-APO audits of Field Services inventory annually
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain operation of all manner of PCs (zero, thin, and thick)
Complete purchase requests for parts via bill of material (BOM) submission
Track BOM submission status via purchase request process database.
Assist in receiving, warehousing, staging, inspection, and disposition of equipment and spare parts
Manage all toner and ink supplies for entire C2F complex by updating the Master MFD Toner Stock Inventory spreadsheet and adjust order points for toner, fusers and transfer belts as demand increases or decreases.
Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and schedule all Client warranty repair of all Multi Function Devices (M775 and M880) and Client T1700 series plotters.
Install MFD toner and Plotter ink cartridges for the entire C2F and building 500 complex
Understand, troubleshoot, and maintain computer systems with test equipment to include multimeters and power supply testers.
Coordinate with other departments/teams to assist in diagnosing/resolving incidents, including Cable team, Network operations, Windows desktop services, Executive Communications, etc.
Possess a basic knowledge of PC/network interfaces and signaling protocols (USB, PCMI, HDMI, Display Port, Fiber and Copper Network Interface Cards).
Provide basic user orientation for any new hardware installations.
Maintain Servers, switches, distribution consoles, and assist with troubleshooting/replacing malfunctioning server room equipment to include cooling fans, PDUs, memory, processors, and power supplies.
Requirements: Experience/Educational
Working knowledge of fiber optic and 1000Base-T cabling interfaces
Associate's degree or certification program in electronics repair, computer science or similar areas
Three or more years of technical training in computer field
Six or more years of technical support experience
Experience working with solving computer-related technical problems
Either CompTIA A+ or Security+ Technical Certifications are desired and will be required within 6 months of hire date
Windows 10, UNIX experience desired
Required Certifications:
DoD 8570 Level I or Level II certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire (GSEC, Sec+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security)
