We are seeking a skilled Field Services Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural wall mounting, electrical infrastructure identification, cable management, and network troubleshooting. As a Field Services Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful installation and maintenance of various systems and equipment in diverse environments, including construction sites and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
Stud work / Experience with structural wall mounting:
Ability to mount equipment securely on walls, considering factors such as stud placement and structural integrity.
Proficiency in guestimation for non-standard situations where traditional methods may not apply.
Familiarity identifying electrical / existing infra in walls:
Knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to identify and work around existing infrastructure within walls.
Experience in safely penetrating drywall and assessing wall voids.
Cable runs and termination:
Proficient in running cables and terminating drops, including crimping connectors, punching keystones, and wiring patch panels.
Conduit installation and water sealing:
Experience in glueing up conduit and ensuring water-tight seals on couplings to protect cables and equipment.
Heatmap / RFI testing for WAP placement:
Ability to conduct heatmap and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) testing to optimize Wireless Access Point (WAP) placement.
Supplementary documentation:
Prepare detailed documentation including location maps, task itemization, network layouts, and spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
DHCP / DNS troubleshooting:
Experience in troubleshooting DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and DNS (Domain Name System) issues to ensure smooth network operations.
Printer configuration and SMTP setup:
Proficiency in configuring printers and setting up SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) for email communication.
Comfort with drill usage:
High level of comfort and proficiency in using drills for various tasks such as drilling through walls and mounting equipment.
User communication:
Regular communication with on-site staff, safety coordinators, and main employee handlers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant training preferred.
Proven experience in a similar Field Services role, preferably in the IT or telecommunications industry.
Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
