ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:

  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan. 
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position’s primary focus is to learn how to provide quality, efficient service to our customers and to support the regional staff in the performance of the same. Additionally, the individual in this position should learn required skills so they may accept a Field Service assignment within SSI’s market area as desired. Technicians will not have an assigned region/territory at this level. The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of service-related support functions including, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and performance of IQ/OQ/PT of assigned products. The products are to include SSI owned demo equipment, instruments returned from customers and customer owned products. This position is responsible for learning how to repair, maintenance and installation of assigned products.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Providing repair and maintenance support on assigned products. (Daily)
  2. Accurate documentation and reporting of all repairs and product failures and when applicable providing design change and improvement recommendations. (Daily)
  3. Timely submission of all required paperwork and documentation as required. (Daily)
  4. Work closely with and under the direction of more senior service personnel & service supervisor in-order to obtain/learn the necessary skills required for future Field Service assignments. (Daily)
  5. Limited travel in the local region to include possible assignments in a neighboring region. (Weekly)

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbent must have the aptitude to learn how to be proficient at effectively and efficiently troubleshooting and repairing instrument problems, performing installations, and providing, when necessary, customer and staff training.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

An associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology with preferably at least one year of field or in-house exposure repair work.

None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, sitting/driving for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of instrumentation/parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 40 pounds routinely throughout the work day. Will also be required from time to time to assist in lifting heavier equipment. Incumbent must have use of hand to finger senses, in order to use and grasp hand tools to repair instrumentation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in particular to lab safety protocol.  Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and/or customer dictated policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is an office- based position working in the service repair lab, with travel to customer locations as directed as training progresses. The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work alone on projects, as well as, collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at several different work sites during-the-course of a business day in-order to support the needs of Shimadzu customers. Extra hours may periodically be required, in-order to fulfill the functions required by this position.  The position will include contact with SSI employees and outside customers that requires prompt and friendly handling of all related inquires.
