Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Military Engines F135 Fleet Operations is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to represent the P&W Team at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar as a Field Service Engineer (FSE). This position is a customer facing role in a high visibility and part of a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support F-35B/F-35C/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine (software and hardware), aircraft, and unit personnel.
  • Ensure comprehensive reporting on support activities including aircraft and engine status, flight reports, operational data, engine configuration status and parts consumption.
  • Work closely with internal P&W teams (Customer Support Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Center, ALIS teams) to assist Operational units assigned to MCAS Miramar.  Assist customers in propulsion troubleshooting, and communicate as required, emerging customer issues, and maintain flexibility with changing customer priorities.
  • Use self-initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office (JPO), and associate contractors Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.  The FSE will be responsible for coordinating propulsion field issues with the local P&W and Rolls Royce teams, as well as PW Engineering and Logistics Program Management.
  • Alignment with Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements and participating in Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) initiatives.
  • This role supports both training and combat-coded Operational Squadrons at the site (VMFA-314, VMFA-311, & VMFAT-502). Travel for extended periods of time to support USMC Operational deployments and detachments, some of which will be out to sea on a ship or land-based deployments in a hazardous area for a prolonged period of time, will be required.
  • The ability to rotate from first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required;  an engineering or related technical field is preferred.  Non-technical degrees will be considered if the candidate has appropriate / related experience.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in engine/aircraft maintenance, and logistics support.  This includes assisting supply chain management and Support Equipment management.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required. Candidates that have had a clearance that has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may apply for consideration.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a secret clearance.
  • On average, 40% travel on an annual basis is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in export controls ITAR/ for international trade compliance (ITC) is desired for this assignment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience on the F135 engine and associated programs to include Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)/OBPHM.
  • Knowledge of turbine engine theory and operation.
  • Familiarity of USMC aviation operations/structure.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
