Job Description

Eurofins Agroscience Services (EAS) is seeking a Field Research Agronomist to join our team. This role involves a dynamic blend of laboratory work and Field Research, primarily focusing on ecotoxicology and environmental safety within the field of AgroSciences. As an integral part of the team, the Field Research Agronomist will assist in conducting a variety of studies including residue, yield, efficacy, and pollinator trials. Most of the trials will be conducted under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) procedures. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who is seeking to further develop their agricultural research skills in a fast paced, field-oriented environment.

 

Eurofins Agroscience Services is searching for a Field Research Agronomist to work in Lafayette, IN.

Field Research Agronomist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Works collaboratively to develop field plans

Conducts Field Research for studies

Leads planting, farm maintenance, and harvest

  • Responsible for crop scouting and pest management
  • Ensures all field equipment is calibrated and operating correctly
  • Develops chemigation plan
  • Participates in fertilizer and pesticide recommendations
  • Manages seed, chemical and fertilizer inventories

Keeps detailed records regarding field maintenance, crops, chemicals, and samples for audits.

Generates study binders and presents findings to management, quality assurance and clients

Continuous training on products and techniques

Works with teams of scientists while conducting field or laboratory work.

Responsible for complete agronomic support

  • Soil sampling and mapping services
  • Soil fertility recommendations
  • Variable rate prescriptions
  • Crop analyses/diagnoses
  • Pilot drone flights
  • Field Maintenance and Stewardship

Evaluates tests and trials to aid in future equipment and agronomic practice decisions

Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Previous CRO, contract research organization, experience
  • Effective communication skills and collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback
  • Excellent communication (clear handwriting) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks
  • Project management skills
  • Willingness to work with pollinators as needed.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with all policies and regulations

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Business, or related field with 3 or more years of experience (preferred) or Associate's degree with 5 or more years of related experience
  • Must be willing to maintain or obtain Remote pilot certification within 6 months year of employment
  • Must be willing to maintain or obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator certification within 6 months of employment
  • Prior CRO work required including the ability to operate farm equipment.
  • Knowledge of agricultural and related laboratory practices, plant life and development, and farming operations
  • Basic knowledge of scientific discipline; basic relevant technical skills; ability to read and understand protocols, SOPs, and technical guidelines.  Compliance with regulatory guidelines and company SOPs (CGMP, GLP) is required. 
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
  • Ability to work outside standard business hours, according to team/business workloads.
  • Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., with overtime as needed.
