Job description

Overview: Directs, coordinates, and performs the activities on operational contract compression jobs in a manner consistent with the company's goals and objectives. Provides feedback for the development of the location's operating policies, monthly controllable expense budget, and material forecasts
Essential Duties: (Approximate % of Time Spent)
  • Frequently leads, monitors and checks work of at least 3 operators. (~35%)
  • Lead by example by completing and submitting company required documentation in an accurate, thorough and timely fashion and following standard protocols. (~25%)
  • Review collected data to compare against theoretical to troubleshoot or determine performance efficiencies of station or equipment. (~10%)
  • Provides solutions to a diverse scope and range of technical, operational and people problems. (~10%)
  • Performs advanced diagnostic and repair skills on multiple types of equipment including compressor packages, gas process/production and power generation equipment used within the region. (~10%)
  • Demonstrate customer service skills. (~10%)

Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to (as required by contract or area):
  • Model/lead all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Effectively perform the Senior Field Operator role.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, to oversee activities of assigned team and to assist with the assessment of skills and performance, identification, prioritization, and resolution of problems.
  • Effectively interact with internal and external contacts using strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Lead by example by completing and submitting company required documentation in an accurate, thorough and timely fashion and following standard protocols.
  • Demonstrate advanced diagnostic and repair skills on multiple types of equipment including compressor packages, gas process/production and power generation equipment used within the region.
  • Routinely complete and submit company required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Review collected data to compare against theoretical to troubleshoot or determine performance efficiencies of station or equipment.
  • Proficiently read, write and speak English (work orders, manuals, etc.)
  • Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills, including Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word and Excel as well as site specific equipment or facility programs.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills.

Knowledge:
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations, including specialized site specific requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of facility equipment; gas engine and compressor, electrical systems, panelboards, skid and plant wiring, process/production equipment, piping, filtration, regulation, and dehydration system, etc. through advanced training or performance verification.
  • Knowledge of engine and compressor theory of operation.
  • Knowledge of component parts operation and assembly including pumps, starter, valves, ignition governor, lubricator, and turbo-charger.
  • Knowledge of types and applications of lubricants used in maintenance of engines and compressors.
  • Knowledge of basic first-aid practices.
  • Knowledge of new technologies.

Minimum Education and Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must provide own hand-tools up to 1 1/4".
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant technical school or demonstrated prior experience in process/production operations, gas or diesel engine and/or compression.
  • Fully certified and knowledgeable in CPR-First Aid, Visible Emission Certification and Observations, H2S Training and other required trainings or specific requirements as applicable to the site or facility, major repairs, overhauls, or start-up inspections.

Minimum Experience:
  • Typically at least five years related experience and/or training.

Leadership:
  • Frequently leads, monitors and checks work of at least 3 operators.
  • Trains team members to improve skill, productivity, safety, quality and processes.
  • Gives input for hire, fire, and job changes.
  • Gives input for performance review, discipline and issues.

Problem Solving and Innovation:
  • Requires no help for operator duties.
  • Provides solutions to a diverse scope and range of technical, operational and people problems.
  • Solutions frequently require evaluation of variable factors, new approaches, planning and resourcefulness.
  • Expected to regularly identify opportunities and to provide ideas, methods and innovations to enhance teamwork, efficiency and quality within the scope of role.

Impact:
  • Actions and decisions impact operational, and financial, results of assigned area.
  • Accountable for team's HSE performance, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • No budget responsibilities, but is expected to be aware of decisions that impact the budget in assigned area and how to impact positively.
  • Recommends overtime.

  • Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE required by role (includes respiratory protection medical requirements as required by role).
  • Constantly required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Constantly required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance.
  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet.
  • Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Extensive Travel.
  • Drives and works in inclement weather for extended periods.
