Field Engineer (Mid-Level)

Requisition ID: 170089  Job Level: Mid Level  Home District/Group: South Central District  Department: Field Operations  Market: Transportation  Employment Type: Full Time    Position Overview As a mid-career Field Engineer for Kiewit, you will play a significant part in the success of planning, organizing, and implementing project engineering and project controls tasks. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team environment are considered critical to this position. We are looking for individuals with motivation and eagerness to expand their skillset in infrastructure construction. District Overview Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil and transportation markets. Projects you could work on include mass grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to engineering design. Location This person will work on a large heavy civil construction project in either Fort Worth TX, Graham TX, Orange TX, or Baton Rouge, LA. Per diem OR relocation assistance will be provided to candidates outside of those locations. Responsibilities Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision. Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work. Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages. Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data. Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets. Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s). Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training. Order and schedule material deliveries. Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite. Supervise field operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering or equivalent experience and education. At least 2 – 5 years of engineering experience within the heavy civil construction industry. Must have working knowledge of construction project management systems such as scheduling - CPM, unit man-hour performance, material control, estimating, subcontracts, and others. Experience with leadership and management of people. Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents. Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment. Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
