Overview
Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Then you may have found your next career move. We're looking for a Fiber Splicer to support our Coos Bay and Medford, Oregon offices. You will perform the duties as a Fiber Splicer as a part of the construction of telecommunications outside plant to ensure scope of work performed is within standards required by customer.
Pay Range: $25 - $32 per hour
What you'll do...

  • You will, with guidance, splice overhead, underground or submarine multiple conductor cables.
  • You will, climb utility poles or towers, utilizes truck mounted lift-bucket or descends into underground vaults.
  • You will cut sheath from installed cable to gain access to defective cable connections.as well as cuts and peels sheath and insulation from newly installed cable and conductors.
  • You will Test (traces or phase out) each conductor to identify corresponding conductors in adjoining cables, using test lamp or bell system.
  • You will read and interpret (i.e. mechanical, electrical, digital) drawings, maps, blueprints diagrams, etc.
  • You will ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
  • You will performother splicing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Who we are looking for...
  • You will have one or more years experience as a Fiber Splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
  • You are at least 18 years old • You are authorized to work in the United States for this company • You are able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card • You have a valid standard Driver's License or Class A Commercial Driver's License • You have previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry • You have knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques • You are able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet • You are able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction) • You are able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance • You are able to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call • You are able to maintain a safe work environment • You are able to work in all weather conditions • You are able to travel when travel is required • You may have experience splicing of active & passive equipment
