- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Support clients Manufacturing Scientist and Technology Fermentation Group supporting microbial organisms growth through fermentation and necessary recovery steps to isolate the bacterial products from fermentation broth
- Execution of lab processes or pilot-scale using various scale platforms (250 mL to 150 L), process development and characterization, scale-up and tech transfer to commercial manufacturing, process simulation and modeling, process troubleshooting, qualification of alternate raw materials and components, new technology development, etc
- Preparation of fermentation/ cell culture medium, buffer solutions, consumable materials, etc. as needed to support experiment execution
- Utilizing technical knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, and assist with resolution of process problems
- Document experiment execution using an electronic lab notebook, batch record, and/or protocols
- Organize technical data and provide oral presentations or technical reports to communicate results, as required
- Prioritize and organize work to meet project deadlines and support team goals
- Work on second or third shift to support fermentation operations may be required on a frequent basis
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, high energy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and client staff members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry or other science related degree concentration
- A minimum of 2 years of industry experience is required
- Direct fermentation product recovery (centrifugation, Ultrafiltration, Depth and Sterile Filtration) and extraction experience (Homogenization, pH titrations)
- Experience with fermenters at small scale or Pilot Scale in an industry-based setting is required
- Experience with operating and monitoring of fermentation equipment, centrifugation and performing sterile technique is required
- Experience with accurate pipetting and performing serial dilutions is required
- Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Valid driver’s license and personal transportation
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
