Job Description
We are seeking FEMA Public Assistance (PA) and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) specialists to join our cadre of disaster recovery specialists. This includes FEMA PA and HMGP staff, Program Delivery Managers (PDMG), cost estimators, engineers, accountants, insurance adjusters / specialists, and policy experts.
This position is for temporary assignment. If selected, you will be considered for future work on Thompson projects. We assist clients across the country and may have a need anywhere in the continental United States or US Territories.

Most positions require 50-100% travel. Travel, lodging and per diem are paid for directly by Thompson.

Job Tasks and Duties (may vary by project)

• Work with local, state and federal officials to identify eligible response, recovery and mitigation activities.
• Advise clients and TCS project accountants on FEMA PA policy and documentation requirements.
• Prepare project damage descriptions, scope of work and supporting documentation.
• Manage simultaneous development of multiple Project Worksheets (Categories A-G).
• Conduct site assessments in the field.
• Prepare project documentation and cost estimates.
• Review and validate contracts, contractor invoices, payroll and other financial records.
• Provide policy guidance expertise for FEMA PA, FHWA ER, FEMA HMGP, HUD CDBG-DR or other grant programs.
• Organize and maintain project records and reports.
• Complete tasks on time and within project budgets.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

• Seven years industry experience working with federal grant programs including related statutes, regulations, policies and processes or Bachelor’s degree and previous experience with federal grant programs.
• Bachelor's degree and two or more years of direct experience highly preferred.
• FEMA PA Program and/or Project Worksheet development experience required.
• Field experience at the state and/or local level in preparing or reviewing grant applications required.

Required Skills/Potential Physical Requirements for Work Environment

• Overtime is expected, must be willing and able to work up to 7 days per week and 12 hours per day.
• May be required to work outside when conducting project site inspections or other field work.
• Communicate effectively (written and orally) with team members and local, state and federal officials.
• Ability to create, organize and maintain project documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Work independently to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel to client and project sites.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving history.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Weekends as needed
