YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As Feed Mill Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of a high production feed manufacturing facility and associated departments. Manage 34 staff, 500,000+ tonnage facility, and all other assets of the assigned milling and delivery operation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Schedule the production and delivery of feed, including ingredients needed for production.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, products, and purchasing of supplies.
  • Meet production targets while maintaining the highest quality product.
  • Adhere to all EPA, FDA, OSHA, FSMA, DOT requirements, and company biosecurity policies and procedures.
  • Interview, select, train, evaluate, and promote staff as needed.
  • Monitor the upkeep and sanitation of property, equipment and vehicles, and repair or replace items as needed.
  • Record keeping such as data collection and distribution of information.
  • Forecast capital purchase cost in advance, budgeting for delivery and mill.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Feed Science or related from a four-year university or four of more years of experience in Feed Mill construction, maintenance and/or feed production; and five or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people such as employees and senior management.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and judgement skills to reach the best possible solution to a problem.
  • Demonstrate experience or desire to facilitate, encourage, coach and lead a team to reach set goals.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to collect data and relay information in reports.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is exposed to airborne particles and gasses at low concentrations or risk of electrical shock and vibration and cold or humid weather conditions. The employee will be frequently exposed to feed and infrequently exposed to waste material and hog dust. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can be loud. 

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
