FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM - Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management
This job is a Federal Work Study,non-benefited position in Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management department that reports to the Program Director of HRTM. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program by the Department of Education. This program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with significant financial need and is administered by the FWS Coordinator, and the Office of Financial Aid, in accordance with the law, federal regulations, and with instructions from the United States Department of Education.
Salary - $13.50 an hour
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled Gwinnett Technical College student who is eligible for funds through the Federal Work Study Program for the current semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, must be able to file accurately, able to use computer and office machines. Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program student preferred.
Technical Competencies:
Ability to use computer programs; ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize workload; ability to provide support services to both internal and external clients; ability to use proper judgment in selecting which issues to handle or re-direct; ability to identify clients' issues and provides satisfactory resolution.
Job Description Summary:
Under close supervision, provides clerical support and office assistance to the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism faculty.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
- Assists with planning for department events and field trips such as the Hospitality Roundtable Discussions and Interview Contest/Career Day.
- Assists with program marketing efforts by maintaining department blog, Facebook page and design of print marketing material.
- Assists with college-wide and department level recruitment and retention activities.
- Assists in organizing and executing routine activities and special projects; other duties as assigned.
- Assists with communicating to Program Advisory Committee; maintains required meeting records and documents per Gwinnett Technical College guidelines.
- Supporting faculty by arranging field trips and guest speakers for individual classes.
- Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. (Performed by all incumbents)
