General Description: The Farmers Market Coordinator will primarily work to implement the Farmers Market initiative in conjunction with the farm, sustainability, and Food for Today programming at the SAFB. The Farmers Markets provide an intervention to improve food security by connecting San Antonio residents with locally grown produce, leveraging vouchers from the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program from the Texas Department of Agriculture. This role will produce and promote Farmers Market events while connecting each of these organization types. For the months where there is no Farmers Market activity, this position will support the SAFB farm.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with farmers and market vendors including the Farmers Market Association
- Train farmers on TDA requirements including voucher redemption procedures
- Coordinate with market venues
- Monitor compliance of farmers and markets, and issue sanctions depending on violations of policy
- Facilitate voucher distributions and redemptions
- Set up tents and tables
- Facilitate the sale of SAFB farmed produce
- Support planning activities for seasonal cultivation strategies.
- Ability to work with a variety of community members and volunteers. Engage volunteers in needed activities and delegate assignments.
- Greet and orientate volunteers as well as share the mission of the San Antonio Food Bank.
- Ensure equipment is well maintained.
- Support the operations of the SAFB farm through planting, weeding, inventory, harvesting, etc.
- Maintain records and weekly reports.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Availability on Saturdays and weekdays (though only 5 days per week in total)
- Accept and amplify the SAFB mission.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.
- Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work outside for long periods of time.
- Has current Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.

Work Environment
This job is performed primarily outdoors with some indoor office work. The outdoor work environment may have diverse weather conditions at times, such as severe heat and cold. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $39,000.00 per year
