The incumbent in this position is responsible for:

• Conducting inspections of licensed child care providers to ensure compliance with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code and School Readiness Standards.
• Conducting re-inspections of licensed child care providers as needed.
• Investigating complaints regarding licensed child care providers.
• Conducting joint investigations with child protective investigators and law enforcement officials.
• investigating reports regarding unlicensed/unregistered individuals illegally providing child care.
• Providing consultation and technical assistance to licensed child care providers regarding current Florida Statute and Florida Administrative Code.
• Providing consultation and technical assistance to new providers during the application for licensure process.
• Completing annual reviews for child care providers applying for license renewal.
• Traveling to facilities and homes on the caseload to conduct child care licensure inspections.
• Assisting in conducting child care provider meetings to provide technical assistance regarding changes to laws affecting the child care industry.
• Assisting child care providers in opening childcare facilities and homes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Ability to complete inspections using CARES inspection software.
• Must pass fingerprint and background screening.
• Weighing the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.
• Talking to child care providers to effectively convey information relevant to the child care industry.
• Actively looking for ways to help child care providers meet licensure standards.

• Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Codes regarding child care licensing standards to provide assistance as needed to providers.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
