Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION :
The counselor will be the point person for the OB centering Program as well as the RHC/walk in clinic. Duties will include but not limited to recruitment, scheduling, facilitator, MA duties and administrative support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordination of Centering program including but not limited to scheduling, recruitment, patient/provider support, data collection and administrative support
  • Provide patient counseling according to Family Planning protocols and standards
  • Inform patients of available special medical services and complete the necessary applications
  • Enter the data for JOGA in a timely manner
  • Completes bill process via FP computer in a timely fashion
  • Submit to JOGA/FPC walk-in pregnancy test statistics
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.

Family Planning Responsibilities
  • Provide initial counseling on contraception, pregnancy options and reproductive health topics like STIs
    • distribute additional education resources
  • Provide IM injections
  • Manage testing such as pregnancy tests, pap smears, infection swabs and urine samples
  • Obtain demographic information and health information required by AccessMatters, and enter into EMR
  • Monitor report submissions to AccessMatters
  • Manage AccessMatters inventory (condoms, medications, patient education materials)

Centering Responsibilities
  • Point person to whom any office staff can refer patients/providers who have a patient interested in Centering.
  • Meet with patients in person and discuss with them over the phone what the Centering program is and determine if it will be a good fit for them. Place them in a group according to their due date.
  • Coordinator will prospectively assess recruitment for upcoming groups and notify facilitators if groups are too full/not full enough to permit changes to office templates to improve recruitment/move patients out of groups if too full/add additional groups.
  • Meet with patients at their initial OB intakes to introduce the Centering program to improve recruitment.
  • Reminder phone calls for centering patients
  • Facilitate centering education with group of 10-15 people
  • Manage phone calls and help triage clinical questions for centering patients
  • Responsible for managing the Centering Counts website which is reported to the Centering Healthcare Institute. This includes inputting demographic information, health outcomes, and attendance for each participant
  • The coordinator will be responsible for scheduling, reserving rooms, and taking notes/sending minutes for any Centering meetings.
  • The coordinator will be responsible for reviewing equipment needed for Centering program and ordering new equipment/materials as needed, including Centering patient books.
  • Manage the Steering Committee which includes various stakeholders (administration, nursing/office management, marketing, philanthropy, clinical) and schedule meetings as indicated.
  • The coordinator will manage the social media pages of the Centering Pregnancy program, updating with photos from groups to improve the presence of the Centering program online.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
Certified Family Planning Counselor
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION :
Medical Assistant certification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum of 3-6 months preferred as a Family Planning Counselor and knowledge of OB
Conditions of Employment
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
