Family Crisis Intervention Specialist

Local non-profit agency is looking for a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to work with families experiencing a crisis. The candidate works as part of a Family Crisis Management team.

Professionals that have experience as a non-licensed professional working with family-based programs are encouraged to apply. Individuals with a social work background are also good candidates for this position.

The Family Crisis Support Team responds to calls for Crisis Intervention. The QMHP responds in the field to crisis situations as part of that team. During the initial visit, the QMHP administers mental health screening tools to determine the strengths and needs of youth and families. The team works closely with clinical staff to identify appropriate Crisis Interventions; provides psycho-education, refers client/family to skill building services, provides support services at school/home/office, develops and family based intervention and crisis plan; identifies experiential learning opportunities and community outings, teaches responsible behavior to redirect negative behaviors; uses evidence based models to teach coping strategies for the family and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate proven experience working with at-risk youth and families. A four year degree in criminal justice, mental health, social work or related field is required. This team responds to crisis needs 24/7. Individuals with a QMHP certification or status are preferred. Serious, qualified candidates only.

The candidate works closely with the adolescent and caregivers to provide support, skill building and connections to resources to address family needs; when necessary, assists in referring youth/families to various treatment services using consumer choice and acting as a liaison between juvenile probation/courts, area providers, the agency, DSS, schools and others. When necessary, this employee conducts in-reach at juvenile detention and other facilities to assist in treatment engagement or continuity of services. The employee is a vital part of the Child & Family team and assists in convening these meetings.

Due to the nature of this evidence based model, the employee must be a strong, contributing member of the intervention team. The employee works under the direction of the clinical director and the team lead , project partners, area agencies and others to ensure an effective wrap-around approach.

Candidates must have strong communications skills and case documentation/case records competencies to maintain accurate program and case records. The candidate must be willing and able to participate in and lead group learning sessions and support the team in the implementation of other evidence based skill building services.

Strong skills in an array of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web applications for referrals, database manipulation, reporting and related functions should be evident in the incumbent.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
