We're seeking Christian, mission-minded, married couples to serve as Cottage Parents at our Mills Home location in Thomasville, NC.

SUMMARY
The Family Care Worker must demonstrate the agency's purpose, philosophy, policies and procedures. The Family Care Worker manages the Family Care program household and models positive family living. This position works with the supervisor in developing, implementing, reviewing and revising a plan of service for each family, and is a live-in position that includes free living quarters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of 25 years of age.
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Experience as a residential family or child Care Worker and/or demonstrates the ability and motivation to learn and practice basic family and child care skills.
* Valid drivers' license and be able to operate an agency vehicle to transport residents without restrictions.
* Must have the capability to manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor and maintain agency programs as well as adhere to accreditation standards and N.C. licensing requirements.
* Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the agency's personnel policies.
* Respects the cultural diversity of residents in care, and strives to create a positive relationship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
HOUSEHOLD
* Manage cottage household, enforcing cottage rules
* Interact daily with client families.
* Provide mentoring and lay counseling to client families.
* Oversee and participate in housekeeping schedule. Implement routine housekeeping.
* Oversee and participate in extra cottage chores, i.e. cleaning windows, ceiling fans, baseboards, walls, carpet, etc.
* Monitor client and children behavior
* Assist in special needs of client families as described in plan of service.
* Conduct tours through cottage and give information about program.
* Transport Clients to appointments, job, and school when requested
* Set up group meetings and assist in making childcare arrangements
* Schedule periodic cottage meetings.
* Follow required safety procedures. Schedule quarterly fire drills/natural disaster.
* Maintain household first aid kit.
* Routinely check smoke alarms and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
* Follow approved guidelines for making cottage purchases. Submit receipts for reimbursement.
* Complies with safety in accordance with OSHA, food program, accreditation standards and N.C. licensing requirements.
* Any other responsibilities as required by supervisor.
CASE MANAGEMENT
* Conduct client orientation and complete client admissions paperwork and documentation.
* Complete and forward to supervisor, bi-weekly life skills evaluations and reports.
* Participate in client's plan of service meetings.
* Assist client in money management program. Collect and receipt program fee and savings.
* Maintain report on program fees collected and client savings balance.
* Participate in team meetings, individual meetings with supervisor as well as general staff meetings.
* Participate in staff training opportunities.
* Participate in off campus workshops and seminars when recommended by supervisor.
PROFESSIONALISM/TEAMWORK:
* Represents the agency to various individuals, groups, and public in a professional manner.
* Maintains professional standards as set by the agency.
* Have the commitment and the capacity to build and to maintain individual and group relationships with the various teams within the family services area.
* Respects the rights of the total team and keeps other team members informed of any changes in the cottage.
* Works under the supervision of the assigned supervisor.
* Respects the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of staff members and children in care and strives to create a positive relationship within BCH.
* Participates in the agency's Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed.
EQUIPMENT:
Ability to operate standard office machines such as copier, computer, fax, calculator, etc. Ability to work within Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word software programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and complete necessary documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, resources and the general public.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. in a positive manner. Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance as the agency's image could be affected.
MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITIORY DEMAND:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions.
CONFIDENTIAL DATA:
Complies with agency policies and procedures concerning confidentiality and HIPPA regulations involving all aspects of client information, which include day to day care of the children, case records, family information, medical information, psychological services, etc which if disclosed, would have adverse internal and/or external effect, and could result in termination of employment.
